Personal Project: Poster Design Series on a topic : Stress
Design Awards Best Typography and Illustrator Letter Form
AIT .ink Exhibition 2019
The design concept in this topic is about expressing some of the dangerous factors for teenagers who are exposed to them at an early age. Some of them include mental stress, anxiety, addiction, cyberbullying, smoking, eating disorders, sexual. Identities etc. These types of social evils don’t take much time to destroy one or more lives. This can be stopped if proper attention is given. These problems can be solved if people help one another. This starts at home, school and between friend circles.
This is my attempt to attract people showing them that there is a way out of these problems. Sometimes letting go does less damage that holding on tight for a long time. This typographic poster series is a way of communicating with the people that needs help with these problems.
All the three designs of the typographic series look similar to one another but the titles are different. The three titles are Stress, Anxiety and Depression. These are the most dangerous factors in anyone’s lives especially teenagers. These factors ultimately lead to addictions and other major social problems. Stress can be caused by various reasons like financial weakness, school and college problems, family background, job, friends etc. Too much Stress in mind will cause Anxiety and Depression so these factors play with one another.
Talking about the design, I have tried to show all the stressful things, events, thoughts all accumulated in the human mind in the form of letters and the letters are slowly forming the big problems (words) which are attractive in colour. Such an effect is caused bu the gradient similar colour combinations. The figure of the people in the design represents teenagers. The design is pretty simple looking but there was a bit of work in there as well. It has a simple meaning. The overall idea of the poster is to attract teenagers and let them face the reality that everyone has these problems but we can work it out if we help each other. There is a number in the bottom of the page after the tag line “Get Help”. That is a number which is active almost 24/07 for people to be able to contact at any time if they need help. The overall design is a bit heavy on the left side due to the bold big texts. But I tried to manage that a little bit by adding the shuttle lines below the face figure which give the idea of the face figure being kept there securely.
The whole designing process was very interesting. Designing something that can make a difference in the lives of people is a very sensitive and critical factor. I hope I met at lease some requirements and my design would mean something.
